The Tailor
The Viktor & Rolf AW 22 "Power Dressing" showcases radical tailoring of tuxedos and tailored suits with exaggerated shoulders and surreal silhouettes. I was inspired to create my own piece from this collection, drawing inspiration from the structured high collars that had the illusion of floating around the body. My final garment features a "shirt skirt" with sleeves, an oversized shawl collar with buttons that increasingly get larger, a pleated striped bodice with a stand collar, and an 80 inch long tie. I also experimented with spray starch to give my collar more structure. The process involved creating sketches, pattern making my own drafts, making the pattern pieces and constructing the final garment.

Materials: Cotton, polyester satin, muslin
